Egypt: Al Jazeera journalist freed from pretrial detention

01 May 2023; MEMO: An Al Jazeera correspondent has been released from about four years' pretrial detention in Egypt, his wife said in a tweet on Monday.

Egypt's Press Syndicate head Khaled Elbalshy confirmed to Reuters that the Qatar-based television network correspondent Hisham Abdel Aziz had returned home on Sunday evening.

CAIRO, April 30. /TASS/: The number of people killed in clashes between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan has risen to 425, while 2,091 people were injured, the country’s Doctors Central Committee reported on Sunday.

"The number of civilians killed since the beginning of clashes has risen to 425, while the number of wounded - to 2,091," Al Jazeera TV channel cited the organization as saying. Moreover, 16 hospitals have been bombarded since the start of the conflict, doctors added.

Emergency aid supplies reach Sudan, as fighting sputters on

CAIRO (AP) — An aircraft carrying eight tons of emergency medical aid landed Sunday in Sudan to resupply hospitals devastated by more than two weeks of fighting between forces loyal to rival generals.

The supplies are enough to treat hundreds of wounded, as the civilian death toll from the countrywide violence topped 400. The conflict erupted on April 15 between the nation’s army and its paramilitary force, and threatens to thrust Sudan into a raging civil war.

CAIRO, April 21. /TASS/: More than 400 people have been killed in clashes between Sudan’s Army and the country’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

"Clashes in Sudan have killed 413 people, and 3,551 more have been injured," Al Arabiya television quoted the WHO as saying on Friday.
