KABUL, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan received another fresh batch of 40 million U.S. dollars in cash as humanitarian aid late on Monday, the country's central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), said in a statement released here Tuesday.

"As part of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, 40 million U.S. dollars in cash arrived in Kabul yesterday (Aug. 29) and was transferred to one of the country's commercial banks," DAB said in the statement.

KABUL, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The Taliban's acting defence minister said on Sunday that Pakistan had allowed U.S. drones to use its airspace to access Afghanistan, which Pakistan's foreign minister denied.

Pakistani authorities have previously denied involvement in or advanced knowledge of a drone strike the United States said it carried out in Kabul in July that killed al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Afghan Acting Minister of Defence Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob told a news conference in Kabul that American drones had been entering Afghanistan via Pakistan.

Aug 23 (Reuters) - At least eight children were killed in floods that swept away houses in central and eastern Afghanistan this week, the United Nations' children's agency said on Tuesday, adding that more children were missing.

The United Nations is deploying response teams in eastern Afghanistan to provide aid to thousands of people who lost homes, livestock and crops in severe flash flooding that has hit the country since last week.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A bombing at a mosque in the Afghan capital of Kabul during evening prayers killed at least 21 people, including a prominent cleric, and wounded at least 33 others, eyewitnesses and police said Thursday.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack Wednesday night, the latest to strike the country in the year since the Taliban seized power. Several children were reported to be among the wounded.

At a house in Kabul, dozens gathered on a recent day for classes in an informal school set up by Sodaba Nazhand. She and her sister teach English, science and math to girls who should be in secondary school.

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Aug 7 (NNN-ANA) – At least 12 deaths have been reported, out of over 18,000 infections in the outbreak of cholera, since mid-June, in Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan province, provincial health official said today.

“A total of 18,000 people have been affected by cholera, due to using polluted water and poor access to health services,” Abdul Ghani Samim, acting director of the provincial public health department, told reporters.

KABUL, Aug 6 (Reuters) - A bomb blast in a busy shopping street in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Saturday killed at least eight people and injured 22, hospital officials and witnesses said.

The bomb exploded in a western district of the city where members of the minority Shi'ite Muslim community regularly meet. Islamic State, a Sunni Muslim militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack, the group said on its Telegram channel.

A senior medical officer at a private hospital said at least eight people died and 22 were wounded.
