ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani police killed six terrorists, during an encounter in the country’s north-west Lakki Marwat district, local media reported today.

Local media, quoting official sources, reported that, the personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department of police, raided a place on intelligence information, in the Dodiwala area of the district, in north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, early this morning.

The terrorists opened fire at police after they were asked to surrender, which led to a heavy exchange of fire, said the reports, adding that, all six terrorists were killed on the spot.

Four of the killed were recognised as members of the banned terrorist organisation Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, police said.

Police also found a large cache of ammunition, automatic guns and hand grenades from the possession of the terrorists.

An official source said, the security forces also conducted an operation in the country’s north-west tribal district of North Waziristan last night, and arrested six terrorists, including three suicide bombers, who were planning to attack the forces in the region.
