India: TB taking denizens under its grip day by day

Kanpur: City is not wholly safe from the disease of tuberculosis. This manifests from the number of patients increasing day by day. According to the DOTS centres, the number has reached to 8500. Besides, the TB patients admitted  at the private nursing homes touch the figure of 3500. There were as many as 423 Multi-drug-resistant TB and 30 Extensively drug-resistant infected patients. 

There are reported to be above 14000 patients in Kanpur. Constant increase in their number takes place as cleared from a report issued by the health department. In a special drive conducted by district TB officer in recent days, 128 cases have been confirmed out of 3686 people screened. 

In a workshop organised at KPM hospital here, the chief chest specialist Dr Krishna Kumar suggested remedies from TB. 

Inaugurating the special worksop on TB Day, the hospital CMS Dr Jyoti Saxena also made people aware of the remedial steps  need to be taken to get rid of the tuberculosis. 

It has been pledged to finish the disease till the year 2025 that is why the government has been focusing on the programme.
