Ukraine will not introduce complete lockdown: PM

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal

KIEV, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian government does not plan to introduce a complete lockdown amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on his Telegram page on Wednesday.

Shmyhal noted that the government will introduce stricter regulations in the event of a further deterioration of the pandemic in the country.

Shmyhal underlined that the government allocated 600 million hryvnias (about 21 million U.S. dollars) to expand the bed capacity for patients with COVID-19 and equip the beds with oxygen supply devices last week. Another 1 billion hryvnia (35 million U.S. dollars) was put to the purchase of 2 million rapid tests for coronavirus infection.

A total of 420,617 COVID-19 cases, with 7,731 deaths, have been registered in Ukraine as of Wednesday, while 176,404 patients have recovered, according to the country's health ministry.
