Yemen’s Newly-Appointed Finance, Foreign Ministers Sworn In

ADEN, Sept 22 (NNN-SABA) – Yemen’s newly-appointed ministers of finance and foreign affairs were formally sworn in on Saturday.

The swearing-in took place at the presidential office in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, where high-ranking Yemeni government officials are temporarily based, along with Yemen’s President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The ministers thanked Hadi for his trust and vowed to exert hard efforts in performing their missions.

On Thursday, Hadi announced a cabinet reshuffle, naming new foreign and finance ministers, to lead the key state institutions in the war-torn Arab country.

The Yemeni president also issued another decree appointing Ahmed al-Fadhli as governor for Yemen’s Central Bank, based in the southern port city of Aden.

The reshuffle comes amid escalating tension between the Saudi-backed Yemeni government and the pro-secession Southern Transitional Council (STC) that seized Aden and other neighboring provinces.

All the country’s key institutions, including the central bank, are currently secured by military units of the STC that forced government officials to fly to Saudi Arabia last month.
