Kanpur: Preparations have begun to shut down 52 illegally settled leather industries near Chakeri Airport here.

The Air Force had objected that the number of birds was increasing due to the leather industries, which could affect the air services.

DM Visakh Ji held a meeting with various departments and ordered the Pollution Control Board to investigate.

In the investigation, it was found that industries started setting up there without environmental clearance.

Though electricity connection was also given. Also, the Municipal Corporation was collecting taxes.

However, it has become clear through the investigation that tannery is not operating here, but industries producing various types of products from leather are engaged.

Since the labour class has built slums around it. In such a situation, the Air Force is facing problems due to the filth of the industry and the inhabitants.

After investigation, the Pollution Control Board has recommended the closure of all industries. Now after the approval of the state government, the administration will close these industries, as reported.
