India: Woman beaten up to stop her husband's second marriage

Kanpur: A wife attempted to stop second marriage of her husband was beaten up. The woman alleged that her father-in-law and two brothers-in-law were  involved in the assault.

The video of the assault on the woman went viral on social media. The  police have registered a case and investigation will be initiated.

The beating of woman named Varsha, a resident of Akbarpur area of ​​Kanpur Dehat alleged that her husband Robin, father-in-law Kallu, brother-in-law Virendra and Surendra were beaten up.

Along with Varsha, her father Kamlesh has also suffered serious injuries. She had married four years ago to Robin, a resident of Gajner police station area. She has one three-year-old daughter.

Due to a quarrel with her husband, she had to move to her maternal house. When she learnt of her husband getting married for the second time, she reached Gajner with her father Kamlesh to stop the marriage.

Varsha stopped the marriage but their husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law Virendra and Surendra beat her and her father badly, whose video went viral.

According to the seriously hurt Varsha and her father Kamlesh Gajner, there was no police hearing at the Police station. Then  Varsha and her father pleaded for justice from the higher authorities.

The Additional Superintendent of Police has ordered to write a case after verifying the viral video. Along with this, action under Section 151 has been taken against two people. Further action will be taken up following the investigation.
