06 Oct 2021; MEMO: Weapons worth $15 million have been stolen from Israeli army bases, including rockets, rocket launchers, mines and machine guns, local media revealed yesterday.

A report published by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz showed that hundreds of guns, nearly 50 rocket launchers and numerous other types of weaponry were stolen between 2013 and 2020.

Citing official figures obtained via a freedom of information request, the report stated that among the weapons stolen were assault rifles and machine guns, various types of grenades, rocket launchers and explosives and over 150,000 bullets.

The actual losses are expected to be much greater as the army could not account for all the weapons stolen.

This comes after Israeli authorities announced that the army and intelligence services will help Israel's police force to tackle crime in Arab communities.
