07 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli National Security Adviser, Eyal Hulata, secretly visited Cairo and met with Egypt's Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel and other Egyptian officials, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed revealed yesterday.
According to sources, Hulata headed the Israeli delegation who met with Kamel along with the Egyptian intelligence official who is in charge of the Gaza file, Ahmed Abdul-Khaleq.
"The Israeli delegation concluded its visit after reaching an agreement on a series of visits during the coming 10 days," the sources said, noting that Cairo is seeking to reach an agreement on continuous calm in the Gaza Strip and the occupied territories.
During the meeting with the Egyptians, the sources said, "the Israeli delegation discussed the prisoner swap and the proposed visions for this issue," noting that the Israelis consider this issue the guarantee for a long-term truce.
The sources said that Egypt asked that Israel continue easing the Israeli siege on Gaza in order to guarantee smooth negotiations in the coming days and to avoid an escalation.
Egyptian intelligence officials, the sources said, are expected to visit Gaza and Ramallah next week to discuss the truce efforts with Palestinian factions.
