Gag order issued as Israel probes serious allegations against senior court official

 Israel Supreme Court

04 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli authorities have opened an investigation into a senior official in the court system accused of severe allegations that risk a lengthy prison sentence, Channel 12 news reported.

A gag order has been issued regarding the ongoing criminal investigation conducted by the Lahav 433 unit of the Israeli police service.

The case is also being handled by Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, State Attorney Amit Aisman and Israel Police chief Kobi Shabtai.

The complainants' lawyer, Chur Uriel Nizri, released a statement saying this case should "disturb the sleep of all parties in the legal system and of every citizen."

He also told Israel's Channel 12 that the case will be a "judgment day" for the justice system.

"We need to ask ourselves serious questions, including, how did we not identify this? How did such a person manage to penetrate to the heart of the justice system?"

"We, the Justice system, lawyers and attorneys, have failed," the lawyer added.
