Kuwait To Suspend Commercial Flights

KUWAIT, Mar 12 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait decided, on Wednesday, to suspend commercial flights to and from the country, starting from tomorrow, Mar 13.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Kuwaiti government, on Wednesday (yesterday).

At a news conference, following the meeting, Tareq Al-Mezrem, the government spokesman, said that, the decision is part of efforts to confront spread of COVID-19.

“Incoming flights to Kuwait International Airport will be restricted on Kuwaiti travellers and first-degree relatives,” he said, adding that, cargo air planes would operate normally.

According to the decision, Kuwait will also suspend work in all government departments from today, Mar 12 to 26.

In addition, the decision also stated that people will be banned from going to restaurants and cafes, including those inside malls.

Kuwait confirmed three new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 72, Kuwait’s Ministry of Health said.

Li Minggang, Chinese ambassador to Kuwait, said that, officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health said that, they would be willing to send medical teams to learn from China’s experience, after the epidemic ends.
