10 Mar 2020; MEMO: On Monday, the Military Court in Egypt sentenced 112 detainees to life in prison, alleging that they have been affiliated to Hasm Movement that the Egyptian authorities classify as terrorist, and involved in case No. 64 of 2017, Northern Military Prosecution Cairo, known as the Assistant Attorney General or the Case of Hasm Movement (HM).
The court also sentenced three defendants to aggravated imprisonment for 15 years, in addition to issuing a 15-year sentence against seven detainees, aggravated detention for ten years against 17 detainees, aggravated imprisonment for five years against 22 detainees, a five-year conviction against five oppositionists, aggravated imprisonment for three years against 44 defendants, and a three-year sentence against six detainees, while acquitting 80 others.
The court has suspended a case against a defendant who died earlier.
