Washington, Dec 7 (AFP/PTI) US President Donald Trump lashed out at the World Bank on Friday, blaming the international financial institution for lending money to China.

"Why is the World Bank loaning money to China? Can this be possible? China has plenty of money, and if they don't, they create it. STOP!" Trump wrote on Twitter.

India: Trump pulls back on designating Mexico cartels as 'terror' groups

Washington, Dec 7 (AFP/PTI) US President Donald Trump on Friday pulled back on his stated plans to designate Mexican drug cartels as terror groups, saying he was doing so at the request of his counterpart Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

Last month, Trump called for a "war" on the cartels after the killings of nine women and children from a US-Mexican Mormon community, but south of the common border, his plans were seen as unwanted meddling.

In warning to Israel’s Netanyahu, US House endorses two-state solution

WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The US House of Representatives on Friday threw its weight behind a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians, in a warning to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he mulls annexing the West Bank.

Passed largely along party lines, the House resolution also marked a shot across the bow to President Donald Trump, who has stood squarely behind Netanyahu.

US slaps sanctions on Iraqi militia leaders

WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The United States on Friday imposed sanctions on three Iranian-backed Iraqi paramilitary leaders over a deadly crackdown on protests in the country, as it warned Tehran to stay out of its neighbour’s affairs.

The move comes as President Donald Trump’s administration, which considers Iran an arch-enemy, voices alarm at rising attacks on US forces’ bases in Iraq blamed on armed Shiite groups backed by Tehran’s clerical regime.

US Congress advances resolution endorsing two-states for Israelis and Palestinians

According to a report in the Hill, lawmakers “adopted two amendments meant to satisfy Republican and Democratic demands to achieve bipartisan consensus”.

Middle East: US considering troop boost to counter Iran

WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The United States said it was considering deploying fresh forces in the Middle East to counter Iran, with an official saying some 5,000 to 7,000 troops could head to the region.

Testifying before Congress, John Rood, the under secretary of defense for policy, said that the United States was “observing Iran’s behavior with concern.”

“We’re continuing to look at that threat picture and have the ability to dynamically adjust our force posture,” Rood told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

US Congresses passes Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act

Washington, Dec 4 (PTI) The United States Congress has passed the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act, which among other things, proposes that America redirects resources to address the mass internment of over 1,000,000 Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities in China.

The move by the House of Representatives is expected to generate a sharp reaction from China.

Trump off to London for NATO summit, under pressure to steer clear of British election

WASHINGTON, Dec 2 (NNN-AGENCIES) — US President Donald Trump leaves on Monday for a NATO summit in London and he is under pressure from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to resist the temptation to wade into the British election campaign coming up later in December.

As a presidential candidate in 2016 and then as president since early 2017, Trump has shown no restraint in showing support for Britain’s exit from the European Union and critiquing the politicians involved in the country’s long-running Brexit debate.
