Israeli military retaliates after rockets fired from Syria

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli military said its forces attacked targets in Syria early Sunday after six rockets were launched from Syrian territory in two batches toward Israel in a rare attack from Israel’s northeastern neighbor.

After the second barrage of three rockets, Israel initially said it responded with artillery fire into the area in Syria from where the rockets were fired. Later, the military said Israeli fighter jets attacked Syrian army sites, including a compound of Syria’s 4th Division and radar and artillery posts.

Ma'an News Agency disclosed that Lapid accused Netanyahu of knowing that giving the National Security portfolio to Ben-Gvir, which made him responsible for Al-Aqsa Mosque, would lead to disaster.

1 dead, 7 injured in Tel Aviv attack

08 Apr 2023; MEMO: A tourist was killed and seven others injured Friday in a shooting and ramming attack in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv, according to reports, says Anadolu Agency.

An attacker opened fire and killed one person while driving a vehicle along the coastal road in central Tel Aviv.

The slain victim was an Italian tourist, according to Israeli media.

Israeli police chief urges Israelis who hold firearms licenses to carry guns

Kobi Shabtai made the remarks following an attack near the Hamra settlement in the northern West Bank which left two Israeli settlers dead and a third critically injured.

Israeli strikes target Hamas in Lebanon and Gaza after rocket attack

JERUSALEM/GAZA, April 7 (Reuters) - Israel's military hit sites in Lebanon and Gaza early on Friday, in retaliation for rocket attacks it blamed on the Islamist group Hamas, as tensions following police raids this week on the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem threatened to spiral out of control.

Loud blasts rocked different areas of Gaza, as Israel said its jets hit 10 targets including tunnels and weapons manufacturing and development sites of Hamas, which controls the blockaded southern coastal strip.

Israel stages rare strikes in Lebanon, also hits Gaza Strip

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel launched rare strikes in southern Lebanon early Friday and pressed on with bombing targets in the Gaza Strip, marking a widening escalation in the region following violence this week at Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site.

The cross-border fighting erupted during a time of heightened religious fervor — when Jews are celebrating the Passover holiday and Muslims are marking the Ramadan holy month. In 2021, an escalation also triggered by clashes at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, spilled over into an 11-day war between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers.

30 rockets fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel: Israeli Army

06 Apr 2023; MEMO: The Israeli Army, on Thursday, said that at least 30 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward Israel, Anadolu News Agency reports.

In a statement, the Israeli Army said its Iron Dome air defence system intercepted 15 of the rockets fired from Lebanon toward northern Israel.

The Army added that it has closed its airspace to civilian flights in northern Israel due to the rocket attacks.

Israeli Police Clash With Palestinian Worshippers At Al-Aqsa Mosque, Drawing Condemnation

JERUSALEM, Apr 6 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israeli police forces broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem, before dawn yesterday and clashed with dozens of Palestinian youth inside, drawing condemnation from Arab countries and sparking a new round of rocket attacks and airstrikes in the region.

The Palestinian Red Crescent in Jerusalem said, at least 12 were injured during clashes in the al-Aqsa compound, and at least three sustained wounds from rubber-coated bullets and needed hospital care.
