Pakistani officials say CPC's governance experience inspirational

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani senior officials said on Friday the landmark resolution adopted recently by the Communist Party of China (CPC) is critical for China, and Pakistan can learn from the CPC's governance experience.

They made the remarks at a webinar organized by Pakistani think-tank Pakistan-China Institute, discussing the resolution of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and its implications for China and the world.

Indian farmers end yearlong protests and return home

NEW DELHI (AP) — Tens of thousands of jubilant Indian farmers on Saturday cleared protest sites on the capital’s outskirts and began returning home, marking an end to their yearlong demonstrations against agricultural reforms that were repealed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in a rare retreat.

India: Postcard writing competition held at posh school in Jajmau

Kanpur: As the country celebrates its 75th year of freedom struggle, the students are also made to join the extravaganza. 

In addition to the series of various events one of its kind, a postcard writing activity on the Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav was also organised at a posh school in Jajmau here on Thursday.

The students were asked to write on two different topics. They were also told to prepare the topic at home and write it in school.

One topic was Unsung heroes of freedom struggle and another was My vision for India in 2047.

Indian Govt says no farmer died due to police action during farmers' protests

New Delhi, Dec 10 (PTI) The Union government on Friday said that no farmer died due to police action during the year-long protests by farmers.

Various farmer groups were protesting against three new farm laws, which have now been scrapped. The year-long protest at the Delhi borders was suspended by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday after the Union government accepted their key pending demands, including withdrawal of police cases against the protesters and on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

India: SGPC to honour farmer leaders on Dec 13 at Golden Temple

Amritsar, Dec 10 (PTI) The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will honour the farmer leaders upon their arrival to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple here.

The decision along with other important ones was taken during the SGPC's executive committee meeting chaired by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Dhami said the SGPC will be honouring the farmer leaders on December 13 at the information centre of the Golden Temple.

India sends medical supplies to Afghanistan

New Delhi, Dec 11 (PTI) In the first tranche of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan after its takeover by the Taliban, India on Saturday sent medical supplies to that country in sync with its commitment of extending help to the Afghan people in their times of difficulty.

The medical supplies were sent on a return flight that had brought 10 Indians and 94 Afghans to Delhi from Kabul on Friday.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the consignments will be handed over to WHO representatives in Kabul.

India: Kerala filmmaker and RSS fellow Ali Akbar renounces Islam

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 11 (PTI) Malayalam film director and Sangh Parivar fellow traveller Ali Akbar has announced that he and his wife were giving up Islam in protest against a section of social media users allegedly indulging in jubilation over the tragic death of Chief Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and his wife in a helicopter crash.

He made the announcement in a video posted on social media on Friday.

"I am not a Muslim from today onwards. I am an Indian," the film maker said in it.

India: Football legend Maradona's stolen watch found in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 11 (PTI) Football legend Diego Maradona's watch, allegedly stolen in Dubai, was recovered from Assam's Sivasagar district on Saturday morning, following which a person was arrested, police said.

The accused person was working as a security guard at a company in Dubai in UAE that was storing the belongings of the late Argentinian footballer, they said.

The accused is suspected to be involved in the theft of a safe in which the limited edition Hublot watch was also kept, Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said.

Afghanistan: Blast rocks western part of Kabul with casualties feared

KABUL, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A blast rocked Dasht-i-Barchi area in the western part of Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Friday, with casualties feared, locals said.

The blast, according to eyewitnesses, took place at 3:25 p.m. local time and targeted a mini-bus in Dasht-i-Barchi, an suburban area of Police District 13.

Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Qari Sayed Khosti has confirmed the incident, saying he would share the details with the media after an investigation.
