BEIRUT, Jun 10 (NNN-NNA) – The Israeli army, yesterday attacked with tear gas, Lebanese citizens in the border villages of Kfarchouba and al-Arqoub, who were demonstrating against Israel’s bulldozing work on their lands, Elnashra news website reported.
Scores of Lebanese residents from Kfarchouba, Shebaa, al-Arqoub, Kfarhamam and other villages, held a sit-in against the Israeli move, calling on the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), to end Israeli violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
The Lebanese army deployed its forces to support the protests while UNIFIL sent reinforcements.
During a tripartite meeting in Ras al-Naqoura in southern Lebanon on Thursday, the Lebanese army discussed the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its continuous violations of Lebanese sovereignty by land, sea, and air, demanding Israel withdraw from all occupied Lebanese territories.
The Lebanese-Israeli border witnessed a fierce round of fire and rocket exchanges on Apr 6, after the Israeli raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem.
It was one of the worst rocket attacks on northern Israel since the 2006 full-fledged war between Israel and Hezbollah, a militant group in Lebanon.
