India: Distt administration takes steps to end jam in Kanpur

Kanpur: To make the city areas jam-free, the district administration has decided to take up a big decision.

There will be a complete ban on the operation of e-rickshaws on VIP Road, GT Road and Naubasta Highway.

This decision was taken in a meeting held on Saturday with police, traffic, transport and administrative officials.

Now e-rickshaw will not operate from IIT to Ramadevi, from Phool Bagh to Nawabganj intersection.

These will run only on the link road.For a permanent solution to the problem of traffic jam in the city, on the instructions of the DM, seven teams of ARTO, ACM and traffic police officers conducted a survey.

Following this, these teams prepared action plans for their respective areas for disposal. Based on this, this decision was taken.

On the report of the teams, it was decided that in the first phase, the auto-tempo stands of five busy intersections of the city would be arranged through the municipal corporation.

This includes Jhakarkatti Bus Stand, Bada Chauraha, Ramadevi, Naubasta and Rawatpur Square. The stands running at all these intersections will be run with basic facilities like seating arrangement, drinking water system and toilets.

In the meeting, Chief Development Officer Dr Mahendra Kumar, Additional District Magistrate, Nagar Atul Kumar, and others were present.
