“Red Sea of Humanity” will herald fight for change in country: Sitaram Yechury

Kolkata, February 3; GANASHAKTI: Kolkata and Red Flag became synonymous today as over million of foot soldiers of the Red Flag bearers in the state transformed the over 3.8 Sq Km of the Brigade Parade Grounds into”Red Sea of Humanity” will indeed herald the change in the country in the coming elections.” It is the Anti people Policies which needs to be changed, and alternative policies to be forged if our country is to be saved from further disaster” he said in the million strong Brigade rally.

Indeed it was this Red Sea or Lal Samandar as CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury aptly called it, undoubtedly the largest assemblance of the downtrodden people – the farmers, workers and working class people in the country in recent times, which even ignited the passionate quote from the Prominent MP and CPI(M) Politbureau Member MD Salim to say” That any attempt to stall the march of this Red Sea (Lal Samandar ) will bring Tsunami in Political scenario, and it will sweep away Anti Democratic and communal force like PM Narendra Modi and his communal brigade and their covert ally, the despotic TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee and her party in Bengal. Indeed the call to‘ BJP for country’s sake and to oust TMC for the sake of Bengal‘ resonated in the determined Participants of the Historical Brigade Rally, who resonated the huge Brigade Grounds and the heart of Kolkata, repeating in unison the calls of the Left Leaders raised in this regard from the Dias.

"The Centre, which has looted the country for past five years, is now doling out sops ahead of elections,”Yechury said, while addressing a rally at Brigade Parade Ground here.

The CPI(M) leader also said the country needs a change in policy for its overall development.

"We are not calling for his (Modi's) defeat just because we don't like him, we are calling for a change so that there can be alternative polices. We have to fight for an alternative secular and democratic government at the Centre,” he said.

CPI(M) State Secretary Suryakanta Mishra aptly called the million strong Red flag bearing participants of the Brigade Rally, as the real leaders and appealed to them to reach at least 50 persons of their Periphery with the call of the Brigade . He also commented that once BJP is ousted from the Central power in the country, then it will take just days to oust the TMC run Government as the covert understanding of BJP and TMC, is keeping both those parties, alive. The fight of the workers, farmers and common people is not for their own benefits only, but for greater goods and in the interest of the people of the country.

Left Front Chairman Biman Basu presiding over the rally called that the task is build hundreds like such mini Brigade in the Area level and take the fight to the enemy camp, where already infighting has started. Prominent CPI(M) Leader and former Minister Deblina Hembram electrified the Brigade speaking in her Mother tongue Santhali and sometimes in Bengal and told that the plight of the Tribals currently is for food, education, Housing and job and not as a display object for its famous dance . ”We tribals stay in natures lap, dance comes naturally to us, we don’t need impetus for that, we need education, the recognition and prestige for our Language , in Alchiki letters, we need schools, colleges and Housing. It was Left Front who had given us honour, that Honour is now missing, We cannot be bought over by money, which TMC is trying to do, after looting us for these 7 years, she said amidst high pitched slogans and Red salute from the mass participants to the speech of the Tribal leader. Later CPI(M) MP Md Salim too, said that unlike Modi and Mamata we don’t hire actors and actresses for giving speech in our rallies using the Producers of Tollywood nad Bollywood, but out Hero and Heroines are leaders Like Deblina, who champions the cause of the Poor people and Tribal people throughout their life.

 Apart from CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) MP and PBM Md Salim, CPI(M) State Secretray Surya Mishra, and Left Front Chairman Biman Basu, The General Secretaries of all the Prominent Left Parties of the country too spoke in the rally .

CPI leader Sudhakar Reddy said that unified movement by the Left Forces and Peoples Movement forged will change the dimention of politics in the coming days and its effect will be felt in the coming Loksabha elections also. RSP General Secretary Kshiti Goswami in his speech said that Bengal is passing through dark phases and this huge rally will electrify the Red flag bearers in their struggle to end the rule of the anti democratic forces in the state and in the country. CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that this rally has shown , that Leftist policies are deep rooted in West Bengal and fascist forces like BJP and the TMC cannot weed them away with their mock fight. In his speech Forward Block General Secretary Debabrata Biswas highlighted that real fight is to dislodge the tyrannical forces like Modi and Mamata from power pedestals and this million strong rally indicates the mood change in the mind of the people in the state .

Former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya due to his illness, could not climb atop the statge , but remianed seated in his car and heard leaders take on various issues plaguing the state. At the start of the Brigade rally there were aplethora of IPTA songs, Tagore songs, and that of Kaifi Azmi., Salil Choudhury and others, by members of IPTA and various progressive artistes.
