India: Leader of Adityanath's Hindu Yuva Vahini, offerd reward of Rs 11,000 for ‘catching’ Tablighi, dies of Corona

Delhi; 13 Aug 2020 (UMMN): Ajay Srivastav aka Ajju Hindustani, a Leader of UP CM Yogi Adityanath's Hindu Yuva Vahini, who offered a cash reward of Rs 11,000 for ‘catching’ Tablighi Jamaat members, has died of COVID-19.

His mother and a sister too have died of Covid-19.

Hindu Yuva Vahini, a right-wing Hindutva organization founded by the CM Yogi Adityanath, operates outside of the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh as his personal force.

According to The Siasat Daily, Ajju was one of Yogi’s favourite members of the gang, and was locally known as ‘Yogi’s Hanuman’.

Members of Tablighi Jamaat were criticised for being super spreaders of the Coronavirus in the country, after their conference at Nizamuddin Marakaz in mid-March.

A number of fake news items alleged that quarantined  Tablighi Jamaat members misbehaved with the nurses, making lewd remarks. demanding Biryani, spitting and making obscene gestures.

Ajju joined the demonization campaign and offered Rs 11,000 cash reward for ‘catching’ Tablighis.

He also claimed that havans and pujas will curb the spread of Covid-19 and the ghee used in puja will cure the disease. After Ajju was found to be COVID positive on July 19, he conducted one of these pujas for himself, but passed away on 30 July.
