Qatar and Malaysia to form joint high committee

15 Dec 2019; MEMO: On Thursday Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim Al-Thani, and Malaysian prime minister, Mahathir Mohammed, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Doha, forming a joint high committee between the two countries, Al Jazeera reported.

This came after official talks at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, where both leaders discussed regional and international developments, as well as bilateral relations.

They also discussed developing the relationship between the two countries in various sectors, including economy, trade, investments, tourism and education.

On his Twitter page, Sheikh Al-Thani posted his satisfaction with Mohammed’s visit to Qatar.

Al-Thani noted that this visit “will bring the cooperation and brotherhood between our two countries to a new phase, thanks to the development and great potential of our two countries.”

In a meeting with Qatari businessmen in Doha, Mohammed disclosed that he had agreed with Qatar to reinforce mutual trade and increase cooperation in the banking, financing, transportation, energy, agricultures, sport and tourism sectors.
