Qatar, Jordan Discuss Initiative To Offer 10,000 Jobs For Jordanians

DOHA, Sept 30 (NNN-QNA) – Qatar and Jordan discussed Qatar’s initiative to secure 10,000 jobs for Jordanians in the Gulf country.

Visiting Jordanian Minister of Labour, Faisal Nidal al-Batayneh, met in Doha with Qatar’s Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Yousef bin Mohammed Al Othman Fakhroo, exchanging views on means to boost cooperation between the two countries in the field of labour.

During the meeting, the Jordanian minister expressed hope that the initiative will be accelerated, as only 2,800 Jordanians were hired through the Qatari-Jordanian employment platform.

The two ministers also reviewed Jordan’s national employment charter, which included upgrade of the education system, vocational training and a national employment platform, as an alternative for the Qatari-Jordanian job initiative.

Doha pledged, in June, 2018, to offer 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanian youths, and invest 500,000 U.S. dollars in infrastructure and tourism projects in Jordan.
