Malappuram (Kerala), Mar 25 (PTI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said the slogans 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Jai Hind' were first raised by two Muslims and asked whether the Sangh Parivar would be ready to abandon them.

Reaching out to the minority community in this Muslim-dominated north Kerala district, the veteran CPI(M) leader said Muslim rulers, cultural icons and officials had played a significant role in the country's history and independence movement.

Kochi, May 5 (PTI) The Kerala High Court on Friday refused to stay the release of the controversial multi-lingual film 'The Kerala Story' and said the trailer does not contain anything offensive to any particular community as a whole.

A bench of Justices N Nagaresh and Sophy Thomas noted the submission made by the producers that they do not intend to retain an "offending teaser" which contained a statement that "32,000 women" from Kerala were converted and joined a terrorist organisation.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31 (PTI) Kerala experienced economic hardships due to the unfavourable policy measures taken by the central government, State Finance Minister K N Balagopal said on Friday.

Balagopal, who met the media here on the last day of the 2022-23 financial year, said there was a shortage of Rs 40,000 crore in this financial year due to the policies of the Centre.

He also said that despite the adverse situations, Kerala managed to perform well in terms of income and expenditure.

Vijayan said the century-old cooperative sector in the country has a pivotal role in the people's lives.

Inaugurating the All India Cooperative Week here, Vijayan said civil society had elaborately discussed the changes brought in the cooperative sector and the state government had raised concerns of it.

Kochi, Oct 12 (PTI) The first ever army recruitment rally in Kerala under the Agnipath Scheme was conducted at Government Physical Education College, Kozhikode from October 1 to 10, the Defence PRO said on Wednesday.

The recruitment was held to select the candidates from seven districts of North Kerala--Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur and Palakkad along with the Union Territories of Mahe and Lakshadweep, the Defence release said.

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12 (PTI) The Congress party's Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the second day in Kerala on Monday, amid an encouraging turnout of people who have been lining up the streets of the state in thousands to extend support to Rahul Gandhi who has embarked on the 3,500 km Kanyakumari-Kashmir footmarch.

The 150-day yatra had been launched from Kanyakumari in neighbouring Tamil Nadu on September 7.

Gandhi commenced his walk from Vellayani junction here on Monday morning.
