India: Ex-MLA's nephew hangs himself to death over property rift in Kanpur

Kanpur: Fed up with the land mafia, the nephew of former BJP MLA in Kanpur hanged himself to death. He hanged himself on the third floor of the house on Sunday evening.

His two under-construction houses were reportedly occupied by some people by locking them.

He was suffering from mental stress due to the accumulation of deposits, as reported.

The father has filed a complaint against five unknowns including a nominee at Naubasta police station here.

Former MLA's brother lives in Naubasta's housing development at Hanspuram.

There are three sons and one daughter in the family. Everyone is married. The middle son lives with his wife.

According to their father, Narayan used to do business with building materials. Together they used to build a new house and sell it.

The father also told that the son had built two houses on a 50-yard plot in Bingawan village. One building had two floors ready and construction work was going on in the other.

In the application (Tehrir) given to the police, the father has alleged that four-five days ago Ravikant Pandey of the area reached with five-six people and said that both the houses belong to him. Now there will be no construction. He abused and threatened on the spot.

The local people had explained and sent it back. According to the father, the accused arrived on the day of Holi, locked both the houses and occupied them. Narayan was upset about this and took a step like suicide.

The former MLA says that the nephew did not tell anything. Had the information been given, the problem would have been solved.

ACP Vikas Pandey of Govind Nagar said, 'In the suicide case, information about land dispute has been received.

Some people had indeed occupied the house. Instructions have been given to register FIR against the accused based on application (Tehrir)
