US says it doesn't set 'red lines' for Israel as Gaza offensive intensifies

28 October 2023; MEMO: The White House said Friday that it does not dictate terms for Israel’s military amid an escalating offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip that has already claimed thousands of Palestinian lives, Anadolu reports.

“We’re not drawing red lines for Israel. We continue to support their security needs. That will continue,” National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters.

Israel delays Gaza invasion to accommodate US deployment of missile defences: report

25 October 2023; MEMO: Israel has agreed to postpone its invasion of the Gaza Strip to allow the US to deploy missile defences to the region, according to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The report said Israel has, for now, accepted a US request to position its air defences before the anticipated ground operation, citing American and Israeli officials.

US President Biden expected to visit Israel on Wednesday

16 October 2023; MEMO: US President Joe Biden is expected to visit Israel on Wednesday, according to Israel’s Channel 12, Anadolu Agency reports.

There has been no official confirmation from the White House or the Israeli government regarding Biden’s visit.

On Sunday, the Israeli broadcaster reported that Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, extended an invitation to the US President to visit Israel in a show of solidarity amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.

US asks Israel to postpone ground operation in Gaza

14 October 2023; AA: The United States has asked Israel to delay its ground operation in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media reports.

“The United States has asked Israel to postpone its ground offensive until the establishment of a humanitarian corridor,” daily Jerusalem Post reported, citing the public Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.

According to the report, “it was unclear what the Israeli response was to the request.”

White House calls Israel's Gaza evacuation 'tall order'

13 October 2023; MEMO: The White House stated, on Friday, that Israel’s call for more than one million people in Gaza to evacuate to the south is a “tall order”, Anadolu Agency reports.

"That’s gonna be a tall order, given how densely populated it is, given that it’s a scene of combat" said National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, in an interview with MSNBC.

USA: White House retracts statements accusing the Qassam Brigades of killing children

12 October 2023; MEMO: The White House retracted statements by President Joe Biden in which he expressed his dismay at what he described as violent images of an attack by fighters from the Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades on Israeli children.

Biden said during his meeting with leaders of the Jewish community at the White House: “I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children.”

10 October 2023; AA: Three major labor strikes in the US have put the auto, health and entertainment industries in jeopardy of coming to a halt as union leaders continue to negotiate with corporate America.

"This is an unprecedented wave of labor strikes and labor protests," said Professor Kent Wong, director of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Labor Center. "There is tremendous economic insecurity among the working class."
