Iranian president promises response to any subversive act in Persian Gulf

UNITED NATIONS, September 25. /TASS/. Iran is prepared to react to any subversive actions by other countries in the Persian Gulf and in the Strait of Hormuz, President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday at the opening of the high-level general political discussion at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

He said Iran had always attached significance to security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. "Like we did during the war imposed on us by Iraq, we’ll respond to any subversive acts in that vital waterway in the future, too," he said.

Paris, Sept 25; GANASHAKTI: French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the Rafale deal was a "government-to-government" discussion and he was not in power when the multi-billion dollar agreement for 36 fighter jets was signed between India and France.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, Macron was asked if the Indian government had at any point told France or Dassault – the French aerospace major – that they had to accept Reliance as the Indian partner for the Rafale deal.

United Nations, Sep 25 (AFP) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused his US counterpart Donald Trump of trying to topple his government Tuesday as he poured cold water on the idea of resuming talks with Washington after its pullout from an international nuclear accord.

"It is ironic that the US government does not even conceal its plan for overthrowing the same government it invites to talks," Rouhani said in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

Bill Cosby gets 3-10 yrs jail sentence

81 year old Bill Cosby, once known as “America’s Dad” in the top-rated Cosby Show in the 1980s, was convicted in April of violating Andrea Constand, Temple University women’s basketball administrator.

The punishment was handed down by the Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill, saying, “It is time for justice”, and, “Mr Cosby, this has all circled back to you. The time has come.”

Cosby was also fined $34,445.

Mel Gibson to direct, co-write remake of ‘The Wild Bunch’

NEW YORK; 24 Sep 2018; (AP) — Mel Gibson will co-write and direct a remake of Sam Peckinpah’s classic 1969 Western “The Wild Bunch.”

Warner Bros. on Monday confirmed that Gibson will helm the production, with Bryan Bagby to co-write the script with him. It will be Gibson’s first time directing since his 2016 World War II drama “Hacksaw Ridge,” for which Gibson earned a best directing Oscar nomination.

US approves sale of $330 million in military gear to Taiwan

WASHINGTON; 25 Sep 2018; (AP) — The Trump administration says it has approved the sale to Taiwan of $330 million in spare parts and related support for Taiwan’s F-16 fighters and other military aircraft.

A Pentagon statement Monday said the sale will improve Taiwan’s ability to defend itself without altering the basic military balance in Asia.

China opposes all U.S. military sales to Taiwan.
