Israeli Strike Targeted Sites Near Syrian Capital

DAMASCUS, Mar 30 (NNN-SANA) – A fresh Israeli missile attack, targeted military sites near Damascus, the Syrian capital, early today, according to the state-run TV.

The targets are yet to be known, but the attacks triggered Syria’s air defensces, which were clearly heard in Damascus.

No further details were immediately available.

Syria Condemned U.S. Attacks On Eastern Region

DAMASCUS, Mar 26 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry, yesterday, condemned the U.S. airstrikes on the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, urging other countries to join the condemnation.

The U.S. attacks were “based on lies,” the ministry said in a statement, stressing, the Syrian army’s determination to restore all Syrian areas, and end the U.S. occupation of Syrian territories.

The statement followed an exchange of fire between the U.S. forces and pro-Syrian government, Iranian-backed militias since Friday midnight.

Missile attack targets US base in Syria: reports

24 Mar 2023; MEMO: US base at Al-Omar oil field in Syria's northeast was targeted with a missile attack this morning, according to Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen and a security source.

The source told Reuters the attack took place at around 11am (0900 GMT) and it was unclear whether it had caused casualties.

There was no immediate US comment on the reported attack.

Syria hopes Iran-Saudi agreement will ease regional tension

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syria on Saturday welcomed the agreement reached between Iran and Saudi Arabia to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies saying it will lead to more stability in the region.

Iran has been a main backer of President Bashar Assad’s government, while Saudi Arabia supports opposition fighters trying to remove him from power.

Syria's Aleppo airport to reopen on Friday after Israeli air attack

9 Mar 2023; MEMO: Syria's Aleppo International Airport will resume operations tomorrow morning after being shut down because of an Israeli air strike, state media said today, citing a statement by the Ministry of Transport, Reuters reports.

The ministry called on all air carriers to reschedule all flights and said the airport is ready to receive relief aid planes for earthquake victims.

Syrian Gov’t Condemned U.S. General’s “Illegitimate” Visit To NE Syria

DAMASCUS, Mar 6 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry, yesterday condemned an “illegitimate” visit of a top U.S. general to a U.S. base in north-eastern Syria.

In a statement, the ministry slammed the U.S. Army general, Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for making an unannounced visit to a base to meet U.S. troops in north-eastern Syria.

The visit was a “flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity,” it said.

Syria mission worth the risk, top U.S. general says after rare visit

NORTHEAST SYRIA, March 4 (Reuters) - The nearly eight-year-old U.S. deployment to Syria to combat Islamic State is still worth the risk, the top U.S. military officer said on Saturday, after a rare, unannounced visit to a dusty base in the country's northeast to meet U.S. troops.

Army General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, flew to Syria to assess efforts to prevent a resurgence of the militant group and review safeguards for American forces against attacks, including from drones flown by Iran-backed militia.
