CAIRO (AP) — For the last three days, Howeida al-Hassan and her family have been hunkered down in the first floor of her home in the Sudanese capital, sleeping on the floor as sounds of airstrikes and gunfire surround them.

CAIRO (AP) — At the Khartoum Teaching Hospital, people wounded during street battles flowed into the wards. Supplies were running low, with doctors, nurses, patients and their relatives trapped inside for days as the Sudanese capital turned into a war zone.

Then early Monday, one of the wards was heavily damaged by shelling.

“We are running out of everything,” Dr. Amin Saad told The Associated Press. “We are working with the least possible capabilities. … We’re all exhausted, but there is a shortage of physicians.”

CAIRO, Apr 10 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, yesterday called for an end to all forms of terrorism and foreign interference in Syria, in order to restore its security and stability.

During a phone call with the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, the top Egyptian diplomat reiterated Egypt’s full support for Pedersen’s efforts, to reach a comprehensive political settlement in Syria, in line with Security Council Resolution 2254, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

CAIRO (AP) — Saudi officials were in Yemen’s capital Sunday for talks with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, as part of international efforts to find a settlement to Yemen’s nine-year conflict, officials said.

Saudi Arabia’s delegation, chaired by the kingdom’s ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, met with Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthi’s supreme political council, which runs rebel-held areas in Yemen, according to the Houthi-run SABA news agency.

CAIRO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Despite its attempt to masquerade as a "beacon of democracy" by convening the second so-called "Summit for Democracy," the United States is by no means democratic given its hegemony-based foreign policy, an expert has said.

"The United States wants to portray itself as a beacon of democracy ... but the gap is wide when it comes to implementing democracy in its relation" with other countries, said Mokhtar Ghobashy, deputy chairman of the Cairo-based Arab Center for Political and Strategic Studies, in an interview with Xinhua.
