India: Uncle throws petrol on nephew over e-rickshaw dispute; wife dies, 3 burnt

Kanpur: In a dispute over an e-rickshaw in Cantonment's Badlipurwa locality here on Tuesday morning, the infuriated uncle poured petrol on his nephew and set him on fire reportedly.

Seeing this scene, two women including his wife got burnt while saving the young man. After the incident, the accused fled from the spot reportedly.

The police on getting the information teacher the spot and admitted all four burnt people to the Burn ward of Ursala Hospital here.

Ramkumar (40), a resident of Badlipurwa in Cantt, lives with his wife Sapna (35).

Neighbours told that his uncle Ram Narayan (60) had come to stay at his nephew Ramkumar's place during the Corona period. Both of them together bought an e-rickshaw about a year and a half ago.

There was often a dispute between the two about this. On Tuesday morning, Ram Narayan was sitting at some distance from the house with a small bucket of petrol.

As soon as Ramkumar came out of the house, Ram Narayan doused him with petrol. Then setting him on fire and ran away.

Hearing Ramkumar's cries, his wife Sapna and neighbouring women Monika and Rajkumari rushed to somehow douse the fire. She also got burnt while saving him. The wife Sapna reportedly died in the hospital.

Cantt station in-charge Archana Singh told that Ramkumar's uncle Ram Narayan had tried to set fire over the e-rickshaw dispute. All have been sent to Ursala Hospital here. Simultaneously, the search operation to nab the accused is on.
