India: Be punctual in reading Quran, urges Imam on Taraweeh's end at Jajmau

Kanpur: "Develop a habit of reading verses of the Holy Quran every day," said the Imam of the mosque in Jajmau here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering of the devouts who attended extra prayers (Taraweeh) till the completion of the whole 30 chapters of the revealed book, the Imam dwelt at length on the importance of understanding the real spirit of the Holy Quran.

He made it clear that the devouts should learn properly and find time to read the book at their homes.

With a dua for seeking the mercy of Allah, the devouts left the precincts of the Masjid taking in hand a box of ladoo.

It continued for as many as 24 days of the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. Not one but two Hafiz led the Taraweeh prayers that are offered after the obligatory prayers in the night.

These extra prayers begin with the sighting of the new moon heralding the month of Ramadan. Generally, this special prayer goes on for 27 days.

However, following a common suggestion, the days are fixed according to the convenience of the devouts.
