Myanmar to issue commemorative gold coins to mark 75th anniversary of Independence Day

YANGON, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's central bank will issue commemorative gold coins to mark the 75th anniversary of Independence Day that falls on Jan. 4, 2023, the state-run Myanmar News Agency reported on Thursday.

The two gold coins weigh one tical (16.329 gm) and 0.5 tical (8.164 gm) respectively, the report said.

The one-tical coin is 26 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness, while the half-tical coin is 22 mm in diameter and 1.5 mm in thickness, it said.

Both coins feature a white elephant, the commemorative year, denominations and year of issuance on both sides in both Myanmar and English languages.

The two coins also include the lines that read "Central Bank of Myanmar" and "75th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day" in both Myanmar and English languages, it said.

The commemorative gold coins will be available for sale at the shops of the Myanma Gems Enterprise in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay starting from Jan. 5, it added.
