Russia registers less than 20,000 new daily COVID-19 cases for first time since August 9

MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/: Confirmed novel coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 18,819 in the past day compared to 20,571 a day before, the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

Russia registered less than 20,000 new daily COVID-19 cases for the first time since August 9. Overall, Russia recorded 21,203,332 novel coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic in the country, the latest figures suggest.

Russia's COVID-19 fatalities grew by 102 in the past day compared to 106 a day before, totaling 388,199. The COVID-19 recoveries increased by 28,793 in the past 24 hours compared to 38,289 a day before, totaling 20,414,224, the crisis center reported.

Coronavirus hospitalizations totaled 1,017 in the past day compared to 2,174 a day before (a decline by 53.2%), decreasing in 70 Russian regions, increasing in nine constituent entities and remaining unchanged in six other territories, the latest figures indicate.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Moscow increased by 1,266 in the past day compared to 1,553 a day before, totaling 3,211,861, the crisis center reported.

Moscow registered a new low of daily COVID-19 cases since March 15 when 999 instances were recorded, the latest figures indicate.
