Srinagar, Mar 10, 2019: Three Kashmiri separatists have been killed in an alleged encounter with by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, an Indian defence spokesman said.
It is alleged that Indian security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Pinglish in the Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of separatists in the area.
Indian defence spokesman alleged that the search operation turned into a gunfight after the separatists opened fire at the search party of the forces who retaliated.
The gunfight is still on, the spokesman said, adding the identity and any group affiliation of the slain separatists is being ascertained.
Independent bodies have yet to confirmed whether killed were actually separatists.
Human rights organisations have claimed constant human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir, a disputed territory administered by India, including mass killings, forced disappearances, torture, rape and sexual abuse to political repression and suppression of freedom of speech.
UN human rights report on Kashmir in June 2018 has called for international inquiry into ongoing human rights violations and abuses in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently adopted a resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, condemning the “atrocities and human rights violations” in the state,
The resolution on Kashmir used phrases such as “Indian terrorism” and “mass blindings” by Indian security forces on protesting youth.
