Palestine PM calls on Norway to pressure Israel to release tax revenues

Mohammad Shtayyeh

17 Sep 2021; MEMO: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh yesterday called on Norway to pressure Israel to release withheld Palestinian tax revenues.

This came during a videoconference with Norway's Foreign Minister, Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide, to discuss the latest political and economic developments, the WAFA news agency reported.

During the meeting Shtayyeh reviewed the financial situation and the difficult economic conditions that Palestine is going through due to the financial blockade imposed by the Trump administration, the coronavirus pandemic and Israel's withholding of Palestinian taxes.

Shtayyeh said holding the Palestine donors' conference as soon as possible is a top priority as a result of the financial hardships Palestinians face.
