CHISINAU, August 9. /TASS/: The Moldovan government has recalled its Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Golovatiuc.
"The proposal to recall Vladimir Golovatiuc from the post of ambassador to Russia is approved," Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said at a government meeting on Monday.
Earlier, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry told TASS that the move was prompted exclusively by Golovatiuc’s work and not the relations between the two countries.
Golovatiuc was summoned to Chisinau for consultations relating to the diplomatic mission’s work. Later, reports emerged in the media about a scandal prompted sexual harassment of a female embassy staffer. The Foreign Ministry didn’t comment on this information, while the ambassador also refused to speak to reporters about it.
Golovatiuc was appointed in 2020 by then President Igor Dodon. Moldovan media outlets already report that the government is in discussions about a new envoy to Russia.
