 Tunisia food aid to Gaza

26 May 2021; MEMO: Tunisian authorities sent a military plane loaded with medical supplies and food aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, local news outlets reported.

Minister of Defence, Brahim Bartagi, said the plane was loaded with 1.5 million Tunisian dinars ($553,097) worth of aid.

In an official statement, Bartagi added that another plane will head to Gaza soon with more supplies, including medical items with the aim of improving the health situation in the besieged enclave.

Israeli military raids on the blockaded Gaza Strip resulted in a humanitarian crisis, leaving more than 270 dead, including over 65 children, and thousands more injured. Tens of thousands have been left homeless.

A truce that has been brokered by Egypt and supported by the United States came into effect on Friday.
