India: 3rd UP BJP MLA dies of Covid-19, wrote letter to MH for help

Delhi; 02 May 2021 (UMMN): Kesar Singh Gangwar has died due to Covid-19 on Wednesday. Gangwar was a sitting BJP MLA from Bareilly's Nawabganj constituency.

According to India Today, Gangwar  was third BJP MLA who succumbed to the virus within a week. Before him, BJP MLA from Auraiya Ramesh Chandra Diwakar (56) died on in Meerut, and Suresh Kumar Srivastava (76), and the BJP MLA from Lucknow West, succumbed to the viral disease on April 23.

The BJP leader had tested positive for coronavirus on April 18. He was then taken to Ram Murti Medical College in Bareilly, where his condition deteriorated. Following this, his son Vishal Gangwar took to social media to express his anger against the quality of treatment.

According to his Facebook post, a screenshot of which was accessed by indiatoday. in said, "What kind of UP government is this which is unable to provide Covid-19 treatment to it's own MLA. I called the CM office several times but to no avail. Hail UP government, hail PM Modi."

Vishal deleted the post after the UP government shifted Kesar Singh to a private hospital in Noida.

Gangwar letter to Health Minister

Prior to his death, Gangwar too wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Harsh Vardhan pleading for a bed in Max Hospital Delhi.
