Kanpur: Superstitious values seems to have overwhelmed an old rural woman to attain release from the cycle of death.
Belonging to Sajeti Madha village of Ghatampur in the district one 50-year-old woman thought of taking a samadhi. The family members and villagers appear to have energized her to take this odd step.
A pit is as deep as four-feet was dug up in the open space of her village house. Chanting the hymns, she jumped into it. The people put a cot over the trench and covered it with the layers of soil. They even started chanting some hymns.
As the news reached the police, it came into action after several hours. First, the deep layers of the ground soil were removed and afterwards the old woman was taken out. Later she was sent to the hospital for a check-up. Police are investigating the matter.
