TEHRAN, Feb 8 (NNN-IRNA) – Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali-Asghar Khaji, and the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, held talks in Tehran yesterday, it was officially reported.
During the meeting, they discussed the crisis in Yemen. Khaji referred to Yemen’s difficult situation caused by war and the imposed economic pressure, calling on the UN and the international arena, to intervene to stop the war and removing pressure on the people, while stressing Iran’s readiness to deliver humanitarian and medical aid to Yemen, in its fight against the COVID-19.
He also called for settling the situation in Yemen through political means, holding Yemeni-Yemeni talks and forming an all-inclusive government, with the help of all political parties.
Martin Griffiths, for his part, outlined Iran’s role in helping establish peace in the region, cease-fire, remove economic pressure and resume the political talks.
During his stay, the UN official would join discussions and exchange ideas with Iranian officials, about the means of ending the crisis in Yemen.
