India: City to witness its roads' face-lift soon

KANPUR: The city roads’ beautification is certainly not confusing anyone. It is being planned at the administrative level. Various government departments are being engaged in smartening the dull roads. Smart roads are what considered being a necessity of the time. It can be nothing if the district officials are not wholly committed towards the goal.

Crossings would be developed as no vending zones. This arrangement will come into effect around Bada Chauraha, outside Ursula Hospital, up to Yatimkhana road, Parade Chauraha. There will be no encroachments and insanitary situations even.

The Public Works Department with a blueprint of the project has already rushed to the administration and the district magistrate shows interest in its completion. On Wednesday he along with the officers of Nagar Nigam, Police department and others quickly inspected the roads’ poor condition in various vital areas. It was an expected regularity.

Finding awful encroachments around the busy Bada Chauraha, the District Magistrate directed the municipal corporation officials for removal of the unnecessary encroachments and also beginning of the sanitation drive on the different roads.

Swiftly acting upon the direction, the Nagar Nigam team started removing encroachments from the road to the footpath. The District Magistrate with an aim to avoid this kind of disturbance further made it compulsory for submission of a complete report affixed with the photos on the undertaken anti-encroachment drive on the road.

While enraged at the parked vehicles near a private hospital on the Narona crossing, he asked the officers concerned to issue a copy of the notice to the hospital and the contractor in this regard. He also cleared to the hospital management that all the vehicles should strictly be parked at the Nagar Nigam Parking space. If the instructions are not followed, the crane will lift the vehicles. Shivala road will be made the one-way road. A closed water tank on Kotwali side road and half-leaned pole on Parade crossing will be removed. Fresh shops will be constructed on useless sites.
