Delhi; 16 June 2020 (UMMN): An Indian commanding officer and 2 soldiers have been killed on Chinese border in a “violent face off” with the PLA on Monday night in eastern Ladakh, the Indian army said in a statement.

Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said Indian troops crossed the frontier twice on Monday. He said India was guilty of "provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, resulting in serious physical confrontation between border forces on the two sides."
According to Hindustan Times (HT), military commanders of the two armies, Major General Abhijit Bapat, commander of the Karu-based HQs 3 Infantry Division and his Chinese counterpart are holding talks at the site of the clash to defuse tensions.
“Our border troops had a high-level meeting and reached important consensus on easing the border situation. But astonishingly on June 15, the Indian troops seriously violated our consensus and twice crossed the border line for illegal activities and provoked and attacked Chinese personnel which led to serious physical conflict between the two sides,’’ Zhao said.
India is now focused on resolving the situation on the northern bank of Pangong Tso, which has been at the centre of the ongoing border scrap and where troops are still locked in a faceoff, reported HT.
