IIT to probe into construction at Boat Club

KANPUR: In his inspection, the divisional commissioner Subhash Chandra Sharma noticed the below standard work in ongoing construction work at Boat Club near Ganga Barrage here. Taking strong cognizance of the matter, he apprised the KDA secretary of this irregularity.

In view of the seriousness of this complaint, the KDA secretary KP Singh asked the IIT Kanpur to initiate an enquiry into the use of the sub-standard materials.

However, the contractor has been paid amount of rupees 7.32 crore so far. His remaining amount Rs 3.68 crore has been held back till the completion of the probe.

It will be worthwhile to mention here that the Commissioner found the granites or so were falling after mere touch and wood being used in a hut is also not up to the quality mark. Even the mason was found to be using cement mixture below the set ratio.
