US will not deploy troops to Israel for Gaza offensive, VP Harris says

30 October 2023; MEMO: The United State’s military will not be deployed to Israel or Gaza amid Tel Aviv’s bombardment of the Strip, Vice President Kamala Harris has assured.

In an interview with CBS on Sunday, Vice President Harris insisted that the US is only providing advice, equipment and diplomatic support to Israel, also claiming that the “US is not telling Israel what to do”.

Branding the Palestinian Resistance group, Hamas, “a terrorist organisation”, she condemned it for allegedly having “slaughtered hundreds of young people at a concert”. As a result, “Israel, without any question, has a right to defend itself,” she said.

Harris stressed, however, that “it is very important that there be no conflation between Hamas and the Palestinians. The Palestinians deserve equal measures of safety and security, self-determination and dignity, and we have been very clear that the rules of war must be adhered to and that there be humanitarian aid that flows.”

The Vice President also addressed the question of whether Israel’s war on Hamas and bombardment of the Gaza Strip would possibly pull American troops into the conflict, assuring that “We have absolutely no intention nor do we have any plans to send combat troops into Israel or Gaza.”

Her comments come amid recent reports that the US military’s elite Delta Force has been deployed to Israel in order to help Occupation Forces with the fight against Hamas, especially as they advance further into the land strip from the north and expect to encounter fierce resistance on the ground.
