Kanpur: CNB will soon have a computer operated quick watering system to fill up the water tank in the train coaches. As many as 66 railway stations of the North Central Zone will be covered under this project underway with a cost of rupees 23 billion after the approval of the Railways Board.
A water tank with a capacity of 1800 litres will be filled within five minutes. At present only 50 litres of water is filled in one minute.
This system will minimise the problem of train's delay. Amidst the drinking water problem in the hot season the passengers create ruckus for water scarcity and the train gets late. This leads to other trains also run behind the scheduled time.
Wastage of water will also be lessened. Hydrant pipes placed along the tracks are used for bath. This causes thousands of water draining uselessly. In the new system only those water pipes will be opened that were required. Computerized system will help save water wastage.
Passengers appreciated this step and hoped they will save their money if there remains ample supply of drinking water on the platform. The chief relations officer, NCR, said quick watering system will be beneficial in ways. Stoppage will reduce, time will be saved and passengers will not panic.
