Kanpur: An FIR has been registered here against the Mahamandaleshwar of Nirvana Akhara for allegedly raping and molesting a girl on the pretext of performing initiation of the rituals.
The victim met godman Prakhar Ji Maharaj at a religious event in February 2020 to which she had flown from Bengaluru, along with her parents.
Mahamandaleshwar Prakhar Ji Maharaj of Nirvana Akhara was also present at the same event.
According to the victim's mother, the godman invited her daughter for a private meeting, in order to perform her religious initiation but instead, molested and raped her.
The girl also said that she was threatened with having her parents killed if she told anyone about the incident.
Fearing for their lives, the daughter stayed back with Prakhar Ji Maharaj, who then took her to Bhupat Wala Vishwanath Ashram located at Haridwar's Shankaracharya Marg.
The parents alleged that when they asked for their daughter to be returned, the henchmen at the Ashram drove them away. There was no help from Uttarakhand Administration as well.
Finally, the family approached the State Commission for Women, at whose behest a case was registered by Kanpur Police against the Mahamandaleshwar in sections of sexual assault and rape against women.
