India: Farmer commits suicide in orchard at Kanpur Dehat's Rasulabad

Kanpur: A farmer allegedly committed suicide in his orchard on the outskirts of Rasulabad in Kanpur Dehat district. The body has been sent for the autopsy, told the police officer.

He was compelled after the Rasulabad Nagar Panchayat got his orchard dug up to take mud for some project there, said farmer's son Ankur Singh said in his complaint to the police authorities.

The Station house officer, Rasulabad, Pramod Kumar Shukla said police have lodged an FIR under section 306 of IPC. A suicide not on the deceased was found, said the police quoting Ankur Singh.

According to the information received the locals were enraged at the farmer's demise. They gathered at the orchard protesting the death.

They demanded the arrest of those involved in the act that led to the farmer's suicide.

Ankur said: "The executive officer of the panchayat Dinesh Shukla, senior clerk Amit Kumar, panchayat chairman Rajrani and her representative Aqeel Ahmed, to collect mud, not only dug up the entire open area in the orchard but also damaged several trees." 

"My private property was dug up to 15 feet deep, and dozens of trees were damaged. My father kept running from pillar to post for redressal but to no avail," he said.

He further said that his father was deeply perturbed and tensed. He committed suicide this morning in the orchard.
