Kanpur DM strict on land Mafia, to free encroached lands

Kanpur: The district administration on Saturday gave orders to register cases against land mafias by taking possession of the encroached land within seven days.

The district magistrate Neha Sharma instructed all the deputy DMs, following review of the works of all the Tehsils in the Collectorate Auditorium here on Saturday.

The strictest action should be guaranteed against the land mafia by running a campaign in all the Tehsils.

While identifying the people continuously occupying government land, the DM instructed that the land should be vacated immediately after registering an FIR against violators.

The DM asked the officials to make sure to mark the land of ponds and puddles and ensure their restoration.

All the departments have been asked to prepare a list of their respective lands, ponds, etc. Geo tagging of all lands and ponds will be done and the data will be conserved the .

Officials have been asked to build a boundary wall to avoid attempts of illegal encroachment in the future and it should also be continuously monitored by the department.

Cases of undisputed inheritance will be registered within a week by running a campaign. And the pending references on the portal of all the tehsils will be disposed of immediately.

Additional District Magistrate, Finance Revenue, Dayanand Prasad, all the sub-district magistrates, tehsildars, KDA and voice development officers were present at the meeting.

The Uttar Pradesh revenue department has so far freed 67,000 acres of land from the mafia during the tenure of the Yogi government.

In August last year, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state government would build houses for Dalits and the poor on the land confiscated from the mafia.
