Kanpur: A lineman got electrocuted nearly a week ago (February 27). He reportedly succumbs to his injuries on Wednesday.
A video statement was given before his death and accused his seniors of keeping the line running on the electricity pole even after convincing him of carrying a shutdown
The relatives of the deceased have accused the officers of putting the lineman on the front of the casualty.
Lakhan Dwivedi, who lived in the Barra area, was a lineman in the electricity department. On February 27, his engineers had mounted him on a pole to fix a fault.
According to the rules, the line should have been closed before fixing the fault But that time the line was not closed at that critical time. Lakhan got burnt as a result and was later taken to the hospital.
He died on Wednesday, (March 2), as was reported.
Before succumbing to his injuries, Lakhan had given a video statement describing that his officers put him in the line running with the electric current.
He had asked them beforehand whether the line was shut down or not. The officers assured him that it was shut down.
Agitated and irritated family members first blocked the Powerhouse. Afterwards, they initiated to block the Highway.
Senior police and other officials from the Kanpur Electricity Supply Company Ltd (KESCO) department reached the spot.
They tried to bring the situation under control. The anguished family members demanded strict action against the responsible officials and raised a demand for compensation of Rs 50 lakh.
The Police force was deployed on the spot. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Naubasta police station.
