India: BJP fields candidates from Kanpur assembly constituencies

Kanpur: The BJP has fielded different candidates from constituencies in Kanpur.

The sitting MLA Neelima Katiyar from Kalyanpur, sitting MLA Abhijit Singh Sanga from Bithoor, sitting MLA Surendra Maithani from Govind Nagar, sitting MLA Mahesh Trivedi from Kidwainagar, sitting MLA and state minister Satish Mahana from Maharajpur, and runner-up candidate of 2017 Raghunandan Bhadauria from Cantonment seat respectively.

However, the party fielded Rahul Bachha Sonker from Bilhaur, the seat won and represented by Bhagwati Prasad Sagar on a BJP ticket in 2017. Sagar, along with Swami Prasad Maurya, recently resigned from the BJP.

A three-time MLA and member of legislative council and state vice-president of BJP, Salil Vishnoi, has been given ticket from Sisamau assembly.

He had  contested from Aryanagar seat in the year 2017. He remained a runner-up and lost the election to SP's Amitabh Bajpai.

Meanwhile, Suresh Awasthi, a runner-up on the Sisamau seat in 2017, has been given a ticket from Aryanagar.

In that year, he contested from Sisamau and remained a runner-up. The seat was won by Samajwadi Party's Irfan Solanki.

Asim Kumar Arun, who joined the BJP on January 16, has been fielded from Kannauj Sadar seat.

The Samajwadi Party candidate, Anil Kumar Dohare had defeated the BJP's Banwari Lal Dohare in the 2017 state assembly polls.

From Chhibramau, BJP has fielded sitting MLA Archana Pandey who had defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Tahir Hussain Siddiqui.

The party has re-elected sitting MLA Kailash Singh Rajput from Tirwa, who defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Vijay Bahadur Pal in the year 2017.
