Amaravati, Jan 30 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old man at a village in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, police said Wednesday.
The incident came to light Wednesday morning after the girl complained of illness.
The accused was taken into custody immediately, police said.
The girl has been admitted to a government hospital.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 5 lakh to the girl's family, an official communique said.
The Chief Minister spoke to the Guntur district Collector Kona Sasidhar and enquired about the incident,
He directed that the accused be brought to book immediately and severely punished.
Police said the incident occurred on Tuesday at Tummarikota village when the girl went out to relieve herself.
The man, who lived in the same locality, took her to a secluded place and allegedly committed the offence, police said.
